Caution remains as Colorado ends child care mask mandate

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., (KRDO) -- On Thursday, Colorado released a new public health order removing the requirement of masks at schools and child care centers. Now, any child care center still following a mask mandate is free to change its policies under the new state order.

Still, some child care centers say they're going to remain cautious moving forward.

Early Connections Learning Center, a non-profit child care center with four locations in El Paso County, says they will still recommend unvaccinated staff to continue wearing masks. They'll also recommend unvaccinated parents wear masks when dropping off their children.

In El Paso County, masks aren't required for anyone under the age of 11. Still, CEO of Early Connections Learning Center Diane Price says she wants to remain as safe as possible, stating they've had recent COVID-19 cases at the beginning of June, causing classroom closures.
