Cheyenne Mountain places 2nd at 4A State Girls Tennis Tournament
PUEBLO, Colo., (KRDO)- Grit, tenacity, and patience, that's what the Cheyenne Mountain Tennis team showcased at this year's class 4A Tennis State Tournament.
The girls took home the silver trophy on Saturday, coming in second place in the standings with 27 points under their belt.
In the finals for 4A, 4 doubles, Cheyenne Mountain's Raina Land and Jessica Fahrney went up against Mullen's, Renne Hoyt, and Clara Dailey. Though there was intense pressure on both ends of the net, it would be a tough one to pull through.
Cheyenne would show tenacity taking the second set 7-6, but Mullen would bounce back in the third set, clinching the title with a 7-6 win.
In no. 3 singles, Emily Creek the senior from Niwot going against the freshman Taylor Stadjuhar from Cheyenne Mountain. Creek would come out on top, after a couple of sets, as the freshman would fall, 7-5, 6-3 to Niwot.
For Cheyenne's no. 1 doubles team, Kate Tweede and Ruby Muhl, the best friend duo went against a tough Kent Denver team. Hanna Notes and Kendall Adams would close this one against Cheyenne, 6-4, 6-0.
Though a very emotional loss for Muhl, she was grateful for the opportunity to play this year along with her teammates and coach. Saying, she is striving for success for a title next year.
