Crash between SUV and motorcyclists in Pueblo kills two

PUEBLO, Colo. -- UPDATE: Of the four victims in the June 5th crash at Northern and Orman, a second has now died from their injuries. A 54-year-old man died at a local hospital. According to Pueblo Police, criminal charges have been amended to reflect this second fatality.

A woman has been arrested after Pueblo Police say she struck two motorcyclists carrying passengers with her SUV.

It happened on Northern Avenue and Orman Avenue in Pueblo at 4:30pm Saturday. Pueblo Police say when they arrived on scene, they discovered three people with serious injuries and one person dead.

The initial investigation revealed that 21-year-old Alisha Herrera was traveling northbound on Orman Avenue when she ran a red light at Northern Avenue and struck two motorcycles. The motorcycles were traveling eastbound on Northern Avenue, each with two passengers. The victim who died was a 41-year-old woman. The three remaining riders were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. One man underwent surgery -- but no word on his, or the other victim's, current conditions.

Herrera was suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She was arrested and charged with one count of Vehicular Homicide and three counts of Vehicular Assault.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office. We will update this article with details as they come.

  1. Hopefully charges will be upgraded to 2 counts of vehicular homicide. If found guilty give her max sentences to be served consecutively, not concurrently. Colorado needs to do this with all DUI drivers as there are way to many of them.
