Colorado Springs businesses react to amended statewide mask mandate

Ed Clemente / MGN

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Under the amended statewide mask mandate, Coloradans are now able to remove masks in public indoor spaces with more than ten people if at least 80% of people present have proof of vaccination.

Despite that change, Solar Roast Coffee in Downtown Colorado Springs said it's still proceeding caution.

“You have to wear your masks when you come up to the counter, when you order, when you go to the bathroom," said Lexy Hesselberg, Assistant Manager at Solar Roast Coffee.

Hesselberg said all staff will continue to wear masks, even though the majority of them are fully vaccinated.

According to state data, over 2,000,000 Coloradans have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and more than 1,000,000 are fully vaccinated.

Masks are still required for all schools statewide.

Governor Polis and State Epidemiologist Rachel Herlihy recently warned of a rise of Covid-19 cases in children.
Out of the 56 active outbreaks in El Paso County county, 24 of them are schools, which is more than any other setting.
