43 additional charges filed against Boulder shooting suspect

BOULDER, Colo. (KRDO) -- Prosecutors filed 43 new charges against the suspect accused of shooting and killing ten people inside a Boulder King Soopers on March 22.

On March 25, the 22-year-old suspect was officially charged with ten counts of Murder in the First Degree and One Count of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder in the First Degree.

9News reports the suspect could now face 54 total charges.

Those charges are:

  • 10 counts of first-degree murder
  • 33 counts of attempted first-degree murder
  • 1 count of first-degree assault
  • 10 counts of using a prohibited large capacity magazine during a crime

Before the shooting, the suspect previously faced a charge of third-degree assault, which is a misdemeanor, in 2017 when he was still in high school.

Thursday, the Boulder District Attorney's Office will hold a press briefing at 10 a.m. to give an update on the investigation and prosecution.

Since the shooting, the Boulder community and families of the victims have come together to mourn the lives lost.

  • Tralona Bartkowiak, 49
  • Suzanne Fountain, 59
  • Teri Leiker, 51
  • BPD Officer Eric Talley, 51
  • Kevin Mahoney, 61
  • Lynn Murray, 62
  • Jody Waters, 65
