Suspect arrested after standoff in Peyton on Saturday

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A suspect was arrested Saturday evening after a standoff in Peyton that warranted a shelter-in-place for residents.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office was at the scene of a barricaded suspect in the 14,000 block of Clifford Drive. A spokesperson for the sheriff's office identified the suspect as 66-year-old Craig Jackson.

Sergeant Deborah Mynatt told KRDO that a domestic disturbance call came in shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday. Mynatt says it was the victim's sister who told authorities that her sister was trapped inside the home with Jackson and the victim's life was in danger.

Mynatt says the victim was able to escape the home and was treated for injuries. A few hours later Jackson was taken into custody without incident with the help of crisis negotiators. He was taken into custody and transported to the nearest hospital to check for injuries.

Jackson was booked into the El Paso County Jail. He is facing multiple charges including 2nd degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, 2nd degree assault, 3rd degree assault, crimes against an at-risk adult, and felony menacing with a deadly weapon.
