Family held at gunpoint in Colorado Springs home invasion

Home invasion in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Police are searching for the two suspects in a home invasion in the Stetson Hills area late Thursday night.

Around 11:13PM, officers from the Stetson Hills Division were called to a reported home invasion in the 3900 block of Half Turn Place.

The victims reported two men armed with guns entered the home and demanded various items from the victims. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Officers checked the area, but no suspects were contacted.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 crews spoke to a woman who lives inside that home on Friday.

She said she was inside with her sister, niece and young son when the men came in through the cracked front door.

The woman told us her son was able to call for help from the basement, while the men stole phones and jewelry from the rest of the people inside.

Before leaving, the woman said one of the men tried stealing the family dog, a Shih Tzu. Despite a gun pointed at her head, she said she pulled the dog out of his hands saying, "no you're NOT going to take my dog!"

No one was injured in the home invasion. Anyone with information they think could help the ongoing investigation should call Colorado Springs police.
