Time-lapse shows progress on the Pikes Peak Summit Complex

PIKES PEAK, Colo. (KRDO) — Getting excited for the new summit house on top of America’s Mountain? Well, now you can see how far it’s come since construction began last spring.

The Pikes Peak Summit Twitter account shared a link to a short time-lapse video of the Pikes Peak Summit Complex construction. The video, provided by GE Johnson Construction Company, shows pictures from the beginning of the project up to today.

Work on the $60 million project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The new house will include more space, modern amenities, interactive displays and a walkway along the north and east perimeters of the peak.

The existing summit house, built in 1963, will be demolished after its replacement opens.
