COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- It was a peaceful ending to a tense standoff in northeast Colorado Springs Friday night.

Police responded to a domestic violence call just after 9:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Michael Place near North Academy and North Union.

Authorities arrived after several shots were fired at the scene -- prompting a shelter in place order in the area. The SWAT team was called in after family members of the woman inside told authorities she had access to a number of handguns, hunting rifles and hundreds of rounds.

The suspect was taken into custody about four hours later on felony weapons charges and misdemeanor domestic violence.
