D70 extends school closure, prepares for remote learning
PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo County's School District 70 is planning for an extended closure of their schools and moving forward with a remote learning delivery system.
Starting the week of April 6, students will be contacted by teachers and remote learning will begin.
D70 Superintendent Ed Smith made the recommendation to the district's Board of Education Tuesday night.
The original plan was to return to traditional classroom teaching on March 30. However, Smith informed the board Tuesday traditional classrooms are not feasible with the current state of COVID-19 in the community and around the country.
Beginning the week of March 30, D70 principals will contact educational staff to train teachers on the different learning platforms students will be utilizing.
