Colorado Springs police searching for suspect in Saturday shooting, carjacking sprees

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - The Colorado Springs Police Department has identified a suspect in a Saturday shooting and carjacking spree, and believe all the crimes may be connected.

The first incident was reported just after 10 a.m. Saturday, on the 3000 block of Westmeadow Dr. When officers arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Around the same time a carjacking was reported nearby, on the 3000 block of Penny Pt. Investigators say a man stole a black Dodge Journey with Colorado license plate 237-WKQ.

Just before 4 p.m. Saturday, Colorado Springs Police were dispatched to the 200 block of S. Wahsatch Ave. for a reported shooting. When officers arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

While officers were responding to that call, Colorado Springs Police received reports that a man was shooting at cars near S. Wahsatch Ave. and E. Costilla St. Investigators say that suspect stole a green Buick LeSabre with Colorado license plate 350-UOM.

Investigators believe the man pictured above is behind the string of crimes. However, police do not yet have a name for the man.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid 20s, between 5'8" and 6', with short dark hair, wearing a dark short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and light-colored shoes. He should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, contact Colorado Springs Police immediately.
