Winter Storm Bears Down on Colorado

nik

A powerful winter storm system is closing in on Colorado Springs. We'll feel the colder temperatures by mid morning Monday.

Snow will then follow, starting as freezing drizzle in the early afternoon. By evening commute, the flakes will fly, leaving the Colorado Springs area with about an inch of new powder. A WINTER STORM WATCH will go into effect for northern El Paso and all of Teller County at 4 PM. Higher snowfall amounts are expected in these areas, and up north toward Denver. Several inches of snow are expected near Monument, with up to 8 inches of snow possible in Woodland Park.

The big shocker for the area will be the arctic plunge in temperatures. Most locations along the Southern Front Range will experience temperatures in the 20s by Tuesday.

We expect a fairly quick warm up in time for the weekend.
