COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Coroner's Office identified the 17-year-old girl who was killed in a suspected murder-suicide earlier this week.

Mya Pena of Littleton is the reported victim who the Douglas County Sheriff's Office says was killed by 18-year-old Samuel Hoffman, Jr.

Hoffman fatally shot himself late Tuesday in a car south of Fountain before he could be contacted by police. Pena's body was found in the backseat of the car.

Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said investigators believe Hoffman picked Pena up from school at Mile High Academy and then drove her to a nearby parking lot before killing her. He then drove south to the scene where he shot himself.

No motive for the murder-suicide has been determined yet. Spurlock said Hoffman's mental health is a concern for investigators, but there weren't any reports of difficulties or disputes between Hoffman and the victim.

The investigation is still ongoing.
