Colorado Springs police identifies officer shot by fleeing felon
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs police have identified the officer who was shot by a fleeing felon during a traffic stop Saturday night near Galley Road and Arrawanna Street.
According to CSPD, officer Beau Becker was injured but has since been released from the hospital after being shot by a driver during the stop.
Police identified Randy Bishop as the suspect, who was previously wanted for a violent altercation with police at a Colorado Springs hospital. He's still on the loose as of Tuesday.
CSPD says Becker was with officer Christina Mattox during the traffic stop, which happened at about 11:57 p.m. Saturday. Police said Bishop fired at both of the officers, and police fired at least one round in response.
You may remember when Becker was given accolades by the department around Christmas time in 2018, when he found a girl's stolen bicycle and returned it to her.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the shooting.
