Man from Falcon arrested after Safeway standoff

FALCON, Colo.-- An afternoon standoff in the parking lot of an area Safeway ended in an arrest Saturday.

El Paso County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to McLaughlin Road in Falcon, after getting a call from a woman inside an RV.

While on the phone with dispatchers, the woman said she was unable to speak freely, and the phone connection was lost several times.

When deputies arrived to the scene, the found the woman had been able to escape the RV through an open window, but she told deputies there was an armed man inside threatening her.

Deputies locked down the nearby Safeway store, and blocked entrances into the area.

After ordering him to come out, deputies say Jerry Norman surrendered without incident. He is now jailed, facing charges of felony menacing, domestic abuse and other charges.
