Community shows support to kids and families spending Christmas at Children’s Hospital

CSPD Visits (6)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The 2019 holiday season is the first for the Colorado Springs Children’s Hospital, which opened in July of this year.

To show their support to the kids and families who won't make it out of the hospital in time for Christmas, the community came together to bring Christmas to them.

Throughout the entire month of December, visitors like the Colorado Springs Police Department, military at Fort Carson, and the Colorado Springs Fire Department came to the hospital to donate gifts, help deck the halls with snowflakes and Christmas decor, and simply spend time with the families.

Hospital officials say that on one visit CSPD officers arrived with seven patrol cars filled with gifts for the kids.

An officer with CSPD says in the 30 years of his career, visiting the hospital was one of his fondest memories.

Military at Fort Carson donated at least a 100 gifts, as well.

Lights have also been strung across the top of the hospital as a gift from Sturgeon Electric Company.
