ARVADA, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says that a robbery suspect is in custody Wednesday night after he shot and wounded an off-duty Arvada police officer earlier the same day.

The Blue Alert has been deactivated, according to a release from CBI.

There is no more information about the suspect at this time.

ARVADA, Colo. (KRDO) -- A search is underway for the robbery suspect who shot and wounded an off-duty police officer during a confrontation at an Arvada gas station early Wednesday morning, according to Arvada police.

Police are asking for your help to find the suspect, a white man with medium build, last seen wearing a tan jacket and black hat. He was last seen driving northbound on Kipling Street in a gold or silver Chevy Equinox, just after the robbery at 8:45 this morning. The car has no license plates and has possible body damage in the front.

The robbery happened at the Circle K in the area of West 80th Avenue and Kipling Street. Sara Horan with Arvada Police tells us The Denver detective was immediately shot after confronting the suspect in the gas station parking lot. The officer suffered serious injuries.

The suspect is believed to be armed and police say he should not be approached. Call 911 or contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 if you've seen him.
