PUEBLO, Colo. -- Pueblo investigators are asking the public’s help in identifying two potential suspects linked to the murder of a 15-year-old boy over the weekend.

Robert James Sandoval Jr. was killed near the 1700 block of East Ash Street in an alley on the lower east side Sunday afternoon. The Pueblo County Coroner and Police Department confirmed this Tuesday.

Investigators revealed descriptions of two potential suspects who reportedly ran from the alley after shots were fired. Police have not yet released names or pictures of the persons of interest.

The first suspect is described as a late teen, thin build, Hispanic male wearing a gray Nike hoodie. The second suspects is also described as a late teen, thin, light-skinned Hispanic male wearing dark clothing.

With potentially three teenagers involved in the shooting -- two suspects and one victim -- police tell KRDO it makes the crime even more troubling.

“We do see younger teenagers involved in crimes from time to time, especially if it is gang related or drug related," said Officer Brandon Beauvais with the Pueblo Police Department. "It happens with all ages, but this one in particular, when it involves a juvenile victim, is very disturbing.”

To be clear, police are unsure if this crime is gang or drug related at this time.

On Monday, family of Sandoval called for whoever shot and killed RJ to turn themselves into the police and face justice.

This is still an active investigation.

If you have information into RJ Sandoval's death or the identities of either suspect, you are encouraged to call investigators at the Pueblo Police Department as soon as possible.

PPD encourages you to contact Detective Ryan Torres at 719-320-6037. If you would like to remain anonymous, contact Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (7867).
