State Patrol: 3 dead in multi-car accident east of Colorado Springs
Colorado State Patrol is investigating a deadly multi-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon east of Colorado Springs at Marksheffel Road and Space Village Avenue.
CSP tells us that three people have been confirmed to have died. They say a total of three vehicles were involved in the accident but that all three fatalities were traveling in a single vehicle. CSP could not provide information on the conditions of the parties in the other two vehicles.
Troopers tell us speed and distracted driving may be factors in this crash. The Cimarron Hills Fire Department responded to the scene around 3:30 p.m.
Fire crews initially reported that multiple vehicles were involved, and that there were multiple injuries. They reported that one victim was trapped at one point.
They're warning motorists to use alternate routes and watch for emergency vehicles.
CSP says that the three vehicles involved were a 2010 silver Pontiac, 2017 Honda CR-V, and 2015 white Ford of an unidentified model.
