Pueblo Police Department

Pueblo police responded to an incident early Saturday that ended with one person hospitalized in critical condition and another in custody.

At 3:45 a.m. police responded to the area of 2600 Jones Avenue for a reported shooting and carjacking, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

On the scene, officers found a male with two gunshot wounds to his torso. He was quickly transported to a local hospital where police say he is in critical but stable condition.

Officers soon spotted the suspect vehicle -- which had fled the scene -- traveling east on Northern Avenue.

Officer Robinson attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, but it managed to evade the cruiser and a police pursuit began.

Robinson was soon joined by Officer Cardona . Together, they pursued the suspect vehicle to Goodnight Avenue and Argyle, where Cardona was able to maneuver her cruiser to end the pursuit.

The suspect vehicle spun out and a juvenile male was taken into custody.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
