Fort Carson Soldier surprises daughters on Veterans Day

A couple of little girls got a special surprise this Veterans Day.
Their mom Sarah Haas showed the girls a big cardboard box in their house on Monday night.
She told them someone had just dropped off the box.

Five-year-old Olivia and two-year-old Makenna weren't quite sure what to make of it.
After getting up close to examine it, their dad popped out of the box, and picked up the girls for a hug.

In a video of the reunion Haas sent us, her daughter Olivia couldn't contain her excitement, screaming "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!"

Sarah said her husband, Cpl. Joseph Haas, is a cavalry scout at Fort Carson. He was deployed with the Third Brigade, Fourth Infantry Division to Iraq and Kuwait for over nine months.

Cpl. Haas got back home Monday night. He and his wife decided he would hide in the box to surprise their daughters.
In her message to KRDO, Sarah Haas said, "This is how you celebrate Veteran's Day."
