Authorities investigating fire that destroyed 4 buildings in Moffat
An investigation is underway after at least four buildings were destroyed by a fire in the tiny southern Colorado town of Moffat.
Saguache County sheriff’s officials say the Colorado State Patrol received word of a structure fire in the town Tuesday afternoon, and firefighters from several agencies responded.
The blaze has been contained, but it was still smoldering Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
Saguache County Sheriff Dan Warwick told the Valley Courier newspaper in Alamosa that firefighters ran out of water because there are no hydrants in the town of fewer than 200 people.
Investigators have not determined what caused the fire.
