Cold temperature records set in Colorado Springs and Pueblo

A strong, fall cold front swept through the state of Colorado over the last 24 hours. It brought both record cold and snow for the southern half of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, Colorado Springs set two record low temperatures. The first occurred at 11:59 p.m. on October 10, 2019 when the temperature in Colorado Springs dipped to 14 degrees. This beat the previous record of 17 degrees in the year 1946! At 5:50 a.m. on October 11, 2019 the temperature in Colorado Springs fell to an icy 9 degrees. This smashed the previous record of 14 degrees in the year 1946.

Pueblo also got to set some new weather records during our early preview of winter! The Steel City picked up 0.8″ of snow on October 10, 2019, which tied the record for the date set in 2005. Temperatures fell to just 17 degrees at 6:22am on October 11, 2019. This broke the previous low temperature record of 20 back in 1946.
