First snow and a 40+ degree drop in temps expected late this week

Our first blast of winter is already on its way! A strong cold front will arrive by Thursday and is expected to bring us a round of snow and cold.

Temperatures are expected to drop 40+ degrees Wednesday into Thursday, so you’ll need to dig out that heavy winter coat! It is still too early to determine snow accumulation, if any, but typically early season snows don’t amount to a lot of problems. That is due to warm ground temperatures. If snow were to accumulate, it would likely be on grassy and elevated surfaces. Snow would have to fall very heavily within a short amount of time for it to pile up and cause huge problems on the roads and mountain passes.
