WATCH: Officials give update on Decker Fire

Evacuations are now in effect for people living above the Mountain Vista Village mobile home park. This impacts people living in Methodist Mountain Estates, Boot Hill, Pinon Ridge Estates and subdivisions near Methodist Mountain Estates, from County Road 110 to County Road 104. That includes residents above Tudor Rose on County Road 104.

Deputies with the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office are joining personnel with South Ark/Salida Fire, going door to door in the evacuation areas. People there are being asked to go to the First United Methodist Church in Salida. Large animals will also be accepted at that location.

The Decker Fire has burned more than 3,000 acres as of Wednesday, mostly in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness. It’s around 5% contained.

Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze has also ordered Stage Two fire restrictions for all unincorporated county lands due to expected persistent dry conditions. Until further notice, all open fires, including charcoal fires and any type of open burning, are prohibited across Chaffee County.
