2 seriously injured in crash, including a deputy, on Highway 24

Two people have been transported to a hospital with injuries, including an El Paso County Deputy, after a two vehicle crash on Highway 24 Sunday morning.

According to Colorado State Patrol, troopers responded to a call at about 5:06 a.m. A sedan was traveling eastbound on Highway 24 when it crossed over into the opposite lane in front of a deputy traveling westbound. Both cars tried to avoid one another, but crashed head-on in the eastbound lane, says a spokesman from CSP.

The male driver of the sedan was transported to a hospital by helicopter with serious injuries. The female deputy also suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Her injuries are serious, but she’s stable, says CSP.
