New survey says Colorado teachers salaries ranked lowest in nation

According to recent research, Colorado teachers get paid the least out of all 50 states.

In an article posted last week, Business.org reports teachers here in Colorado earn around 40% less compared to the average Coloradan in another job.

To show how the current salary for teachers and the cost of living varies from state to state, the researchers noted some interesting comparisons. For one, they say if a teacher in Denver moved to New Orleans, their standard of living would improve by approximately 50%.

We reached out to several school districts here in Colorado Springs to get their reaction to these statistics, and to see how local teacher salaries compare to the state average. We also plan to speak with public school officials about what they’re doing to combat the problem. Check back for updates.
