Colorado Springs to feel record warmth today – 8/20/19

TODAY: Sunny and mild to start with the heat increasing through the afternoon. Colorado Springs will likely tie a record high of 93 today, with lots of 90s and 100s south and east of the city. The mountains warm to the 80s today. We will see a few showers around 12pm, with increasing chances for storms after 2pm. Frequent lightning and a pocket of heavy rain or two will be the biggest concerns today.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear to partly cloudy. Our lows drop to the 50s and 60s tonight.

EXTENDED: Wednesday brings widely scattered showers and storms, some of which will likely be strong or severe. The nice thing about the rain is that it will allow for a big cool down tomorrow. Highs will only be in the 80s to low 90s, with 70s returning to the mountains. The rest of the week looks fairly quiet, with decreasing rain and storm chances through Friday. Hot sunshine is expected for the weekend.
