3 men in Pueblo recovering after being mauled by dog

Pueblo Police are investigating after a dog attack sent 3 men to the hospital with serious injuries early Saturday morning.

Police say they got a call around 2:00 am about the attack on Taylor Ave. They say the caller reported there was “blood everywhere.”

Officers say they arrived to find 2 men “trying to contain a very agitated dog.” The men told police they got into a “commotion,” which set the dog off.

We spoke to the owner of the dog today. Ruben Rosales Martinez says his pitbull has since been euthanized. He says he and some other family members were goofing around in the backyard, when his dog, Kane, snapped. Martinez says Kane was a loving and friendly dog who will be greatly missed.

Officers say they had to use a Taser to subdue the dog. They say that’s when a neighbor threw a dog cage over the fence, which was used to trap the animal.

Animal Control responded and took control of the dog. KRDO contacted Animal Control officials to see what’s next for the dog.

Police haven’t identified the men involved.

Investigators say 2 of the men cooperated, and the other did not. They say the uncooperative man had 2 active warrants out for his arrest, and will be booked into jail after treatment.
