Speed enforcement campaign continues in Colorado Springs

The Colorado Springs Police Department issues another update to its Slow Down, Colorado Springs! campaign.

The agency launched the initiative in October 2018 after it was awarded a grant through the Colorado Department of Transportation. The mission is to curb speeding throughout the city.

Since the initiative launched, CSPD officers have completed 636 hours of speed enforcement. Officers have issued 2,283 traffic violations. Each violation may contain more than one charge.

In a press release, CSPD officials say an officer issued citations for speeds of 105 mph, 94 mph, and 89 mph, along Powers Blvd. A motorcycle rider was ticketed after they were clocked at 147 mph. The speed limit along that stretch of Powers is 65 mph.

Colorado Springs Police is urging all drivers to remember to obey the speed limit, and to always wear a seatbelt.
