John Hickenlooper announces end to 2020 Presidential bid

Former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper struggled from the beginning, but Thursday he officially announced the end of his 2020 presidential campaign.

He began his strategy as a moderate candidate, but he failed to gain traction. Hickenlooper’s campaign lost three of its most senior staffers in early July, including Brad Komar, the campaign manager.

It was a hard hit many believed proved his campaign was on its last legs, but sources close to the governor said he wanted to continue.

Hickenlooper also struggled to raise money and stay in the race.

It’s still unclear whether he will now challenge Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner, who is considered the country’s most vulnerable Republican senator.

At least 10 Democrats have launched campaigns, setting up a competitive primary if Hickenlooper chooses to enter the race.

His White House campaign lasted roughly six months but it could just be the beginning to his Senate campaign. He’s said he will announce that decision in the next few days.
