Child porn suspect was interviewed for hate crime writings

Federal authorities say a Colorado man arrested for possession of child pornography was interviewed by the FBI in January after posting a “hunting guide” online listing mosque and synagogue addresses.

According to court records, Wesley Gilreath is accused of possessing thousands of pornographic photos and videos of children.

The Denver Post first reported on Gilreath’s arrest and the previous investigation.

Court records say an FBI agent interviewed Gilreath in January after he posted the “Montana Hunting Guide” online. FBI investigators said similar documents are used to dispense information for use in targeted attacks.

U.S. Attorney Jason Dunn says in a statement that authorities use every tool “to disrupt and prevent potential hate crimes.”

A federal judge ordered Gilreath kept in custody. His attorney did not return a message seeking comment.
