UPDATE: Bomb Squad declares suspicious package benign at Canon City Post Office

UPDATE: The package was nothing more than a t-shirt and some candy, said Administrative Sgt. Steven Huskey of the Canon City Police Department.

The Bomb Squad determined that the package was non-threatening at approximately 12:45 p.m. Yet the Post Office was right to alert the appropriate authorities and evacuate. The package had been abandoned in the lobby without any name or return address, completely wrapped in duct tape.

The Post Office has reopened to the public and resumed normal operation.
