Single lane closure to take place Wednesday night through the Gap Project

If you’re planning on driving through the gap project Wednesday night you might want to consider an alternate route. Starting at 6 p.m., crews will begin to rebuild the Greenland Road Interchange leading to a single lane closure going northbound on I-25.

The 350 million dollar project between Monument and Castle Rock continues to be a nightmare for drivers.

Dan Conklin, a commuter, said, “You never quite know what you’re going to run into. Sometimes it’s moving along okay and other times it’s just a crawl.”

While Bob Johnson added, “Roads are kind of a mess. Makes it very difficult if you’re headed north to get to where you are going.”

Now, all traffic will be shifted to the Southbound side as crews will begin to rebuild the Greenland Road Interchange from a single-lane box culvert to a full two-lane underpass. Motorists say your best bet is to avoid I-25 altogether.

Scott Lee said to take “83 and go up through Parker or take 105 and go up through Larkspur and the small towns up there. If need be I avoid the gap project at all costs.

Also happening this week, drivers along the 18-mile stretch might notice new electronic speed limit signs. These signs will replace existing signs and display a reduced speed limit of 60 mph.
