Firefighters recover stolen truck from Quail Lake in Colorado Springs
Firefighters recovered a stolen truck from Quail Lake on Monday evening after a sonar device detected the vehicle hidden in the water.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department was doing usual training with its rescue and dive teams when a sonar device showed a figure 13.8 feet underwater.

The vehicle was identified as a Toyota Tacoma; the Colorado Springs Police Department ran the recovered license plates, which revealed the truck had been stolen back in 2013.
CSFD Capt. Brian Vaughan said the teams would routinely place devices in Quail Lake for divers to find during training situations, but this find was unexpected.
“I’ve never heard of something like this in my years here,” Vaughan said.
Lieutenant Jim Sokolik said CSPD is working on finding the truck’s owner.
“We’ll attempt to find the responsible party and give them the opportunity to get their vehicle back,” he said.
The white Tacoma was covered in moss that had embedded into its paint, making the car look green.
