Court documents reveal information about deadly STEM School Shooting

The affidavit for the school shooting suspect, Devon Erickson, 18, was released today by the State of Colorado 18th Judicial District.

Erickson and co-conspirator Alec McKinney, 16, were taken into custody on May 7, 2019 after they killed one student and injured 8 others at the STEM School Highlands Ranch in Highlands Ranch, Colo.

UPDATES:

Suspect Devon Erickson and Alec McKinney obtained four firearms — three pistols and a rifle — from Erickson’s parents’ safe. Erickson and McKinney prised open the safe with an ax and crowbar from Erickson’s garage.

The two then used cocaine and spray-painted Erickson’s mother’s car — which was parked in the garage — and set it aflame. They then returned to school in Erickson’s car.

Erickson claims that McKinney coerced him into using cocaine and retrieving the firearms by his co-conspirator and driving back to school.

Erickson stated that he wanted to tell an adult at the school before the shooting began, but McKinney threatened to kill him if he spoke to anyone about their plans.

McKinney admitted that he targeted students who had previously bullied him for transitioning from female to male.

The names of the witnesses were redacted in the report.
