After 35 years, Sierra High School to host varsity football games on campus

Sierra High School varsity football players won’t have to travel to Harrison High School for their own home games starting next year.

Sierra announced that after 35 years, Stallion football home games for the 2019 season will finally be at the high school itself, in southeast Colorado Springs.

Logistics are still being worked out, according to the school’s athletics webpage. The school didn’t say if new stands or bleachers would be built around the existing track and field.

Athletic Director Robert Bentley says the move is being made “in an effort to revitalize the Sierra community and alumni base.”

“We are excited to shake things up and give us true home field advantage,” Bentley said.

More details about logistics will be coming over the next month, according to the school.
