Affidavit: Penrose man killed roommate for not moving out

A man in Penrose was arrested for first-degree murder and assault after allegedly killing his roommate with a knife because the roommate refused to move out.

Donald Laub, 45, was arrested on 11:24 a.m. June 17 by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was identified as Scott Nash. He was found with his throat cut on a woman’s porch and pronounced dead at the scene by the Fremont County Coroner.

According to an arrest affidavit, Laub told the 911 operator that Nash fled the house after the assault and was “cut real bad”.

Laub confessed to stabbing Nash in the back of the head and neck after Nash refused to move out at Laub’s request. Police said that Laub admitted to attempting to pull the knife forward through Nash’s neck.

The sheriff’s office says deputies were called to the area of 900 Ren Drive at about 10:15 a.m. for a reported assault. (MAP) Laub was taken into custody after the victim was found Monday morning in Penrose.

Fremont County says the investigation is still ongoing and active. Check back for updates.
