Thieves steal Colorado Springs restaurant’s chicken sculpture

UPDATE: Prime25 says the giant chicken has been returned to the restaurant after the thieves were caught on surveillance video.

There’s fowl play afoot — a Colorado Springs restaurant is missing its $5,000 chicken sculpture, and the thieves were caught on camera.

Prime 25 in south Colorado Springs says its “beloved chicken” was stolen shortly after 9 p.m. Friday. The thieves can be seen on surveillance video driving up in a black pickup truck, and they load the sculpture into the back of the truck while other customers walk by in the parking lot unaware.

“The big [chicken] in the parking lot at Prime 25 was stolen,” said general manager Wendy Garcia, who didn’t specifically use the word chicken in her message. Garcia says a $500 dinner reward is being offered for information on the bandits.

“We just want our bird home!” says Prime 25’s Facebook page. If you’ve seen the large rooster or have information on the theft, call 719-358-9822.

Editor’s Note: The original version of this article stated the sculpture was valued at $12,000. Prime25 clarified that value Tuesday.
