Flash Flood Warning in Huerfano/Costilla Counties; more storms expected

Strong thunderstorms are currently dropping heavy rainfall over the Spring Fire Burn Scar near HWY 160 in Huerfano and Costilla Counties, resulting in potential debris flows, rock slides, and water covered roadways.

This event can turn life-threatening, most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 5 p.m.

For Colorado Springs and the Interstate 25 corridor, scattered thunderstorms are likely through the rest of the afternoon and evening with the biggest concerns being small hail, strong wind gusts, lightning, and heavy downpours.
