Weather Alert: Afternoon storms & overnight snow – 5/20/19

TODAY: Low clouds and drizzle are in the forecast for this morning before storms develop later in the afternoon. Anytime between 12-2PM today, storms should pop up along I-25 and over the plains. Some of those could become strong. Storms closer to the mountains will likely produce some hail and eastern plains storms will contain hail, strong winds and could even produce a brief tornado. Highs today will only be in the 50s and 60s.

TONIGHT: Rain and snow are in the forecast for the overnight. Light snow is expected over our mountain cities with a rain-snow mix in the lower levels.

EXTENDED: We wake up to snow falling over 7,500′ tomorrow with rain and thunder in elevations below that. Most of this wraps up by noon and we should see scattered storms along and east of I-25 for the rest of the day. Minor accumulation is expected through Teller County and the Palmer Divide (2-4″), with 1″ or less in Colorado Springs.
