Man dies during police shooting in Trinidad

A man is dead following a police shooting in Trinidad late Sunday night.

In a video posted to Facebook, you can see authorities trailing the suspect’s car until they finally come to a complete stop. In a second video, you can hear several gunshots.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Lawrence Lovato. Lovato died in the shooting.

KRDO received reports that the shooting began with a police chase and ended with shots fired near I-25 and Main Street in Trinidad.

KRDO is told that more than one Trinidad officer was involved in the shooting. Colorado State Patrol also confirmed that troopers were involved at the end of the incident.

District Attorney Henry Solano is working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to determine if the force was justifiable and whether they need to bring forth criminal charges.
