Officers, deputies bust ‘one of the largest illegal grows in El Paso County’

More than 750 marijuana plants being illegally grown in El Paso County were seized by police and sheriff’s deputies Tuesday, and it turned out to be one of the largest illegal grow operations in the county.

At about 9 a.m. Tuesday, the sheriff’s office and the Colorado Springs Police Department searched a place near 13000 North Ellicott Highway as part of an investigation into illegal marijuana cultivation. (MAP)

Police didn’t say how long the investigation had been taking place.

Investigators found several areas growing marijuana in “dilapidated outbuildings” throughout the property, according to a news release. They found 758 illegal marijuana plants, an undisclosed amount of cash and a firearm.
