Woman arrested for DUI and vehicular homicide following Colorado Springs crash

Police have arrested 30-year-old Vanessa D. Gonzales for DUI and vehicular homicide following a fatal crash on Wednesday morning at the intersection of Maizeland Rd. and Wold Ave.

William Harrington, 41, of Colorado Springs died after Gonzales struck his Cadillac with her SUV.

Police have determined that Harrington was attempting to make a lefthand turn when Gonzales crashed into him. Gonzales was found to be traveling faster than the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

Police also report that Gonzales was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

This is the eleventh traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this time last year, there were nine traffic fatalities in the city.
