Colorado Springs murder suspect extradited from Mexico

The man accused of killing a 17-year-old in Colorado Springs back in January has been extradited back to Colorado after being caught in Mexico.

Edwin Figueroa is the suspect who police say shot Erbey Enriquez near the 400 block of S. Circle Drive on Jan. 12.

Figueroa was often featured in the Pikes Peak Wanted Fugitives, and on March 12, he was located in Mexico by the U.S. Marshals Service. He was then taken back to the U.S. and held in the Los Angeles County Jail.

CSPD says Figueroa was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on Thursday.

The victim of Friday’s deadly overnight shooting on South Circle Drive has been identified as 17-year-old Erbey Enriquez.

A vigil for Enriquez is set for Saturday at 6 p.m. at the scene of the crime.

A picture of the suspect involved in a deadly overnight shooting has been released by the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Edwin Figueroa, 26, is sought in the death investigation near the 400 block of South Circle Drive.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound in the parking lot of business. The victim was transported to the hospital and later died of his injuries.

Police in Colorado Springs are investigating two overnight shootings.

The first occurred around 1 a.m outside Club La Casota, which is located at the intersection of Circle Drive and Airport Road, by the Valley Hi Golf Course.

When police arrived, they found a man with apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Colorado Springs police are investigating the death as a homicide.

The other shooting occurred at the Elevate Apartment complex at 340 Crestone Lane in Colorado Springs. A police officer was involved in the shooting, which resulted in the death of one man.

According to a press release, officers made contact with the suspect who was in a stolen vehicle at the Elevate Apartments. When they tried to make contact with the man, he began struggling with officers, resulting in bullets being fired.

The man was said to have died from his injuries. No officers were injured in the shooting. The identity of the man has not been released at this time. The Coroner’s Office is expected to release this information soon.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation of the shooting. It said there is no danger to the public.
