Colorado Springs police arrest wanted fugitive out of Denver

Colorado Springs police arrested a fugitive who was wanted out of Denver Wednesday night.

Police received information from the Denver Fugitive Unit that a suspect wanted for multiple felony warrants was at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Palmer Park Blvd.

Upon arrival, a woman answered the door and indicated that the male suspect, who police identified as Nicholas Walker, was inside.

Walker said he had a hostage and refused to come out of the bedroom. When officers tried to get Walker out, he escalated his behavior, indicating that he would harm the hostage. Officers then made entry into the bedroom and confronted Walker who was armed with a knife. A female hostage was able to run out of the apartment uninjured.

Walker then began waving the knife at officers. After a brief struggle, Walker was taken into custody.

During the incident, an officer sustained a minor injury to the wrist when the suspect was waving the knife.
