Community Animal Services of Pueblo under investigation

We’re learning that Community Animal Services of Pueblo is under investigation by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Pueblo County issued a news release Friday confirming an investigation was underway, but county commissioners say they’re not able to comment on what’s going on.

“The biggest concern of the Pueblo County Commissioners is the health and welfare of the animals currently under the control of Community Animal Services of Pueblo,” the county stated.

Community Animal Services Board President Ruth McDonald issued a statement saying, “We take the well-being of our animals very seriously and will fully comply with the investigation and are actively working on correcting concerns.”

An emergency board meeting has been called to address the investigation.

At this point, no criminal charges have been announced.
