Flights resume at Colorado Springs Airport following blizzard

The Colorado Springs Airport saw a few flight cancellations Thursday, which was a huge improvement compared to Wednesday when all outbound flights were canceled due to the blizzard.

The first flight left just before 10 a.m. Thursday. The airport continued to see slick sidewalks, but that didn’t keep travelers away. Nancy Camp was in Vail when the blizzard hit and couldn’t get to the Denver International Airport, so she went to COS.

With all flight being canceled out of COS, Camp was told that she wouldn’t be able to get on a flight to Houston until Saturday.

“I’m here now trying to fly standby because I can’t wait until Saturday to get home,” Camp said.

There were also improvements at DIA. A Frontier flight was the first to leave the airport just before 8:00 a.m. DIA says crews are continuing cleanup efforts and other airlines are resuming operations with the bulk of arrivals and departures beginning around noon.

Roads surrounding DIA continue to remain snow-packed and icy.
