Concrete truck, car collide in east Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs Police and fire personnel responded to a Friday morning accident at the intersection of South Union Blvd. and East Platte Ave.

CSFD said the accident involved a concrete pump dump truck and another vehicle around 5:40 a.m.

After a partial closure of the intersection earlier, police closed down all lanes for the investigation until about 10:15 a.m.

Investigators say one person in the car was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the concrete truck was uninjured.

Police are still trying to figure out who is at fault. The driver of the concrete pump dump truck wouldn’t go on camera but he claims the car didn’t yield going left on a green light and he was unable to slow his truck down before hitting the oncoming vehicle.
