Candlelight vigil held for missing mother in Woodland Park

It’s been three weeks since Kelsey Berreth was last seen and Thursday night many gathered for a candlelight vigil at Memorial Park in Woodland Park to pray for Kelsey’s safe return.

Dozens from around southern Colorado showed up with LED candles in hand to pray.

Vanessa Nichols one of the organizers of vigil says, “There is a lot of support here and I know there is a lot of people here that are very concerned and care a lot.”

Firefighters, police officers, sheriff’s deputies, and everyday residents of all ages all gathering to show the strength and support of the city above the clouds. Even though some of them didn’t know Kelsey, they say her story and the family she has here is what brought them out.

Divide volunteer firefighter Jason Vigil says, “Being a father of four myself it really hits home. What if this was your wife, your mother, your family or relative?”

Jerry Good, who has lived in Woodland Park for more than 20 years, agrees, “It’s the worst nightmare. I have kids and I can imagine what her mom is going through.”

Kelsey’s mother Cheryl Berreth was also at the vigil being hugged by those in the community. She did not take any questions from reporters.

One person missing from the vigil was Patrick Frazee, Kelsey’s fiance and father to their child. His attorney, Jeremy Loew, said Frazee will be praying from home.

“He is planning on praying on his own and parenting the child,” says Loew adding that the vigil would not be the best place for the child.

We were also told that there will be a reward fund set up for whoever finds Kelsey and also a donation set up to help the family.

We will have more information on where you can donate soon.
